Despite heavy rainfall, Dongarpada's poor irrigation and weak market access force many villagers into low paying labour and migration. Sairam Pangalya Chaure, who supports a family of eight, earned only ₹8,000 to ₹10,000 per month until he joined the DBJUP Skill Development Program and trained in motorcycle servicing, creating a more stable livelihood in an area with no such service centre.
The DBJUP program equipped Sairam with training, tools, and support to set up his motorcycle service centre. Despite initial infrastructure challenges, he successfully established his business. Today, he confidently repairs bikes and meets strong local demand, as no similar facility exists nearby.
Sairam now earns ₹14,000 to ₹15,000 per month and runs a small daily needs shop, allowing his family to meet expenses without migrating. His improved income has strengthened their savings, living standards, and inspired others to explore new livelihood options.
Sairam plans to expand his service centre with a vehicle washing facility, add more products to his shop, and invest in advanced equipment to grow his income and savings. His journey highlights how skill development and the right support can transform lives and inspire entrepreneurship within the community.
