Namdev farming woes

Namdev Pandurang Kedare, a dairy farmer from Khaire in Pune's Junnar block, works tirelessly on his three acres of land and tends his buffaloes. Limited access to quality feed, veterinary care, and stable milk markets kept his income modest at ₹1.5–2 lakh a year, supporting his wife and four sons.

How DBJUP lent a hand

Things began to change when Namdev attended an awareness session by LHWRF and learned about the DBJUP Cattle Management Intervention Program. Seeing new hope, he enrolled and received two buffaloes. The program supported him with quality feed, better feeding practices, and training to grow nutritious fodder like lucerne, transforming his dairy farming prospects.

Namdev received subsidized feed and training in cattle care, which improved livestock health and increased milk production to 10–14 litres daily. With six buffaloes and fair prices at the local milk centre, his annual income rose to ₹2–2.5 lakh, improving his family's quality of life.

With better access to resources, training and markets, he has achieved financial stability and reinvested in his family's future. Farmers in Khaire now feel empowered and united. Namdev plans to expand his cattle herd, increase milk production and explore new markets, showing how community support can transform lives.
