A brisk ascent
on the career
ladder
After completing Class 12, Saloni Shivaji Mandalik from Belsar village in Pune's Junnar block began working as a nursing assistant to support her family and become financially independent. However, without formal training and with limited income and growth opportunities, she often felt overwhelmed. Her turning point came when she enrolled in the DBJUP Skill Development Program by LHWRF to strengthen her skills and advance her career.
The three-month training program provided significant guidance and tools that enhanced Saloni's nursing skills, allowing her to offer better patient care. Having undergone formal skill development training boosted her confidence in executing her duties, which include monitoring vital signs, administering medications, assisting with daily activities and supporting medical procedures. A resolute Saloni recounted.
Through the DBJUP Skill Development Program, Saloni transformed from an undertrained beginner into a confident and skilled General Duty Assistant. She now supports patients and families with care, maintains records, and assists healthcare teams during emergencies. Earning INR 7,000 per month, she contributes to her family's income and has gained financial stability, confidence, and respect in her community.
Saloni is just beginning her journey, driven by her goal to complete her professional nursing degree and grow in her career. She believes her current role will strengthen her practical skills and enrich her education. With support from DBJUP and LHWRF's Skill Development Program, she looks forward to continuous skill enhancement and promising career advancement.
